Should I Upload My Web Videos to More Places Than YouTube? Where Then?

Ever wonder what video sharing sites there are out there and more importantly, which ones are worth it for you to even worry about? It's true, there are plenty of choices out there, and they're all a bit different. Here's what you need to know.

Pretty much all the user generated content (UCG) video sharing sites are all the same. You know, sites like YouTube for example. YouTube is the 800 lb. gorilla of video sharing sites because they are owned by Google and they own about 77% of all the video views online at the moment.

So you cannot not be on YouTube. There are too many potential eyeballs you could be missing out on by deciding not to upload your videos to YouTube.

After YouTube, there's a slew of second-tier video sharing sites that are all pretty much similar in reach, but have different features that make them unique.

The first one that you should check out is Blip.tv. Blip.tv is different because they only really want "shows". For example, if you do a video show about online marketing, then Blip.tv probably wants you to put it on their network. The other great thing about Blip.tv is the player. Their player is probably the best looking one there today.

Viddler.com is another great resource. Viddler is unique because they offer comments that can go directly into the video.

Some other great video players are Veoh, Metacafe and Dailymotion.

The bottom line is, you should get your videos uploaded to as many video sharing sites as possible, thus increasing your chances of getting your video seen by as many people as possible.
